About Stephanie Doherty
Stephanie is a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor, completing rigorous and extensive training to earn her Registered Yoga Alliance
(ERYT - 500 YA) certification. Stephanie has studied, practiced and taught yoga in Europe, India and her native United States. She also continues to study the yoga of sound, with Russill Paul and Jehangir Palkhivala, her longtime teachers. Yoga is her life path, and she remains committed to her practice, both on and off the mat. Stephanie's gentle manner, lightheartedness and love of yoga shine through in her teaching, and endear her to her students. She creates a safe and loving environment that quiets the mind and helps deepen the practice of yoga. Her background is based on the Sivananda and Iyengar traditions, which focus in depth on proper alignment and integrating the spiritual and physical aspects of yoga.
Stephanie has also taught yoga in mental health facilities to help people with addictions, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression as well as yoga for women going through different stages of life. Stephanie currently teaches classical yoga at Yoga Upstairs in Agoura Hills California and through online Zoom classes. She has hosted and taught special event workshops, and hopes to make these a regular "tradition". An avid learner, Stephanie continues to study with her long time teachers and loves to immerse herself in reading and studying about philosophy. She enjoys synthesizing different perspectives and incorporating them into her yoga teachings for the benefit of her students.
